Measured Building

Since the inception of the company in 1990, Met Surveys has carried out detailed and accurate measured building surveys, and provided a high standard of service to clients.

Met Surveys is commissioned by a variety of private and public sector clients, including architects, consulting engineers and local authorities, to undertake floor plans and elevational surveys prior to refurbishment or redevelopment or to assist in determining floor areas for valuations.

Project capability ranges from the surveying of small buildings through to the preparation of comprehensive plans, elevations and section drawings for multi-building developments such as industrial parks, commercial offices, shopping centres, hospitals, schools, colleges and housing association properties.

Dimensions are taken using the latest in laser instrumentation, including the Leica TCRP 1205 R300 and Disto Plus distomats which can both be linked via Bluetooth to palmtop computers. The TCRP 1205 R300 has a range of up to 300 metres and is ideal for measuring large or remote building elevations. As the surveyor measures points and lines, he can view his elevation or floor plan in real time. At a glance, drawings can be continuously checked for completeness and using specially configured software, out of tolerance measurements can be highlighted and rejected. Precise measurements can be gathered of specific structural or decorative details. Facilities management information such as power sockets, light switches, wall finishes and furniture can be captured as attributed blocks suitable for identification and manipulation in CAD drawings.

Data stored electronically in the field can be transmitted immediately to our central CAD and IT support suites via infra-red connection if speed is an essential requirement. There it can used by the surveyors to produce finished, high quality drawings and reports, presented to the client on either paper, film, disk or email. However, we still prefer the surveyors collecting in the field to process and draw their own surveys as we know this provides the best quality.

Laser scanning can also be used for internal and external measuring and you will find a separate page on this website for that.
