Met Surveyor First to Graduate
A Met Surveys surveyor has become one of the first in Britain to successfully complete The Survey Association (TSA)'s new Technical Level Training Course.
Andrew Brooke of Stanley, Wakefield who previously attended Outwood Comprehensive School, was one of just twelve students who completed the course - the very first of its kind.
Andrew has worked for local firm Met Surveys since 1996 after attending Leeds College of Building, where he achieved a BTEC National Certificate in Surveying.
The new TSA Technician Level Training Course run by the Survey Centre, Worcester, has been designed by the industry trade association to be relevant to the needs of modern surveying and mapping companies. TSA member companies specialise in high precision measurement of all kinds. Their work underpins almost every aspect of building and civil engineering and management of the natural and the built environment. All of TSA's member companies have, through their membership subscriptions and support, provided the funding to develop the training course.
Presenting the first graduates of the course with their diplomas, TSA President, John Furniss said: "This is both a fascinating and a demanding profession in which to work, and it is vital that the right type and quality of training is available to help develop the careers and the day to day competence of those employed by member companies of TSA."
Neil Harvey of Met Surveys said: "I am delighted that the TSA course has given Andrew the opportunity to benefit from some relevant training and professional development. Met Surveys is a high-tech company, and to provide our clients with the service they demand we have to invest in the development of the people we employ."
Staff development is high on the agenda at Met Surveys with 85% of the workforce recently undertaking personal training designed to expand their careers and the company's professional and commercial opportunities. |
