Met Measures up for Mercedes
Met Surveys has completed a six month programme of topographic and asset measurement surveys for DaimlerChrysler Retail, the Mercedes-Benz and smart dealerships operator.
Met Surveys were initially commissioned to conduct surveys across 25 dealership sites in London, Birmingham and Manchester taking building stock measurements and recording asset related data for internal areas such as spares and sales departments.
The surveys were commissioned to enable DaimlerChrysler Retail to better manage their property portfolio and inform decisions regarding future re-development of their sites.
However, data gathered by Met Surveys has also provided the client management team with a clearer understanding of where shortfalls and surplus capacity for sales and service currently exist within each dealership and enabled efficiency improvements.
An additional function of the surveys was to help inform the automotive franchising process for DaimlerChrysler Retail. Under the new Europe wide franchising system for new car sales /service, dealers are required to prove they have sufficient usable space available to support the business.
The information provided by Met Surveys, often to very tight deadlines, has enabled us to meet the challenges we face with the new franchise legislation, says Paul Franklin Retail Projects Controller for DaimlerChrysler Retail.
Following completion of this topographic and asset data programme, Met Surveys is continuing to support DaimlerChrysler Retail with new site surveys such as at Brentford where the company plans to convert existing site buildings into a parts centre.
