Topographical Surveys and GPS

Met Surveys are renowned by their clients and throughout the industry for providing accurate, extremely detailed topographical surveys, resulting in repeat business and personal recommendation from many clients.

Frequently, a topographical survey will be carried out as part of a feasibility study for a development project, or at least as part of the pre-design stage. Met recognise the accuracy of the survey information produced is essential and has to be right first time. This is a service essential not an ideal.

Met Surveys take a partnership approach to any survey carried out, working with the client every step of the way, from the initial planning stages and recommendations of the appropriate techniques, through to site work and issuing of drawings, ensuring the client is fully informed as to the status of the project. Topographical surveys are carried out on a variety of sites such as small development schemes through to large scale town centre developments, working with a range of clients from local architects and engineers through to international contractors and developers.

Met uses the latest in surveying equipment and technologies including the latest Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Leica SmartRover. In conjunction with Leica's OS based SmartNet we can collect OS coordinates and levels in real time and achieve reliable accuracy. Where GPS is not suitable, total stations with Auto Target Recognition (ATR) and laser technology are used to measure quickly and accurately. Field collected data is then stored in the on-board memory and is later converted into detailed 2D or 3D CAD drawings.

Once the initial surveys have been completed, we can further assist project teams at various stages of the design and construction processes. This could mean monitoring of adjacent properties during demolition or construction, setting out and volume calculations for earthworks, setting out of buildings, steelwork, etc. and finally providing as-built drawings and land registry plans, all of which can greatly assist in the smooth running of a project.
